I've been quite attached to Sims 4 for a long time. But it originally took me a bit of getting used to after my original disappointment of the game not being open-world like The Sims 3(although hopefully Sims 5 gives it back).

To help with more decorating ideas I've organized these fantastic furniture mods that will improve the look of your dream home.
I haven't prioritized any particular type of room on my list, as I wanted everyone that reads this to have plenty of options to choose from. So have fun and get decorating!
22. Lina Livingroom
I'm not sure what is it about this mod that makes it have such a 'cozy' feeling, but I'm absolutely loving it.
I mean, I've never even had furniture like this in any of my homes, but adding to my game felt like the right thing to do.
It just gives you that 90s home vibe that used to be present in most older TV shows and missing from the vanilla Sims 4 game.
I know some of you don't like including real-life brands to the game, so I'm just warning you that this mod has an LG DVD player as a decorative item.
21. Altara Kitchen Appliances
Modern kitchen appliances are something that's surprisingly missing from The Sims 4.
But it won't be for much longer after you've installed this fantastic mod.
I have to admit, I'm adding it to the list because I really like the way these types of appliances look. And I have similar appliances in my own real-life kitchen.
In any case, this mod adds one functional item(the coffee maker) and 10 decorative items that go a long way into turning your kitchen into a much more modern palace.
20. Pear SimMac
Apple computers are technically canon in The Sims 4.
But as any seasoned gamer will tell you, they're actually called 'Pear' instead of 'Apple'.
With how witty that is, adding an Apple computer to the game wouldn't make much sense at all.
So this modder took the game's canon to heart and decided to add a Pear SimMac(the equivalent of the iMac) to the game. Neat!
19. ECO Kitchen

But it's still not possible to make a room that truly feels like a laundry in the game.

It adds a whole lot of shelving that you can put in your laundry room to make it feel exactly as it should.

If you want your little Sim daughter to have a life worthy of royalty, well this should do the trick.

Much like the last mod that I've reviewed, this one is also an ideal add-on for those who want to decorate a little girl's room in the game.
However, this one doesn't fit a princess as much as it does fit a normal baby girl. So maybe it's a bit more global.
I like the aesthetics of this mod a tad more than the last one, too.
Although it might be down to personal taste, so check both out and decide which one you like more.
14. Wall Grid with String Light
Wall lights are probably one of the easiest ways to make your house a home.
And this mod is fantastic for that purpose. Sarnfun.
You will have access to a new decoration with a string light that will illuminate just enough to make your favorite room feel super cozy.
Kind of makes me want to decorate my own room this way!
13. French Teen Room
Looking for a French room style for your teenage girl in The Sims?
Well this mod adds a few types of furniture to the game that will help your teenage girl feel like she's living the Parisian dream.
Some pretty crazy stuff here for kids, huh?

As you can imagine from the name, the ECO Livingroom has the same style as the ECO Kitchen mod.
And both compliment each other extremely well.

This one is quite a unique mod, as there definitely aren't many bathtubs like this.
All of the items have quite a unique aesthetic that combines rose tones with brown ones and make your bathroom look absolutely fantastic.
It may be too fancy for some, but just right for others.

This is an ideal mod to have after the Tiny Living Pack was released.
It allows you to create some absolutely fantastically cozy rooms in very small spaces.

Well, scrap that.
I think that having the iPhone X in the game is too much of a good option to let it pass.
This is especially true for those who can't afford it! You might not be able to get your hands on one of these in real life, but that doesn't mean your Sim should suffer(well, not all the time).
The phone works brilliantly in the game too, as it uses special meshes and textures to light up the screen. Plus it comes with apps that seem to really work for your Sim.
8. Jules
The ideal room for most women can now be added to your Sims game with this amazing bedroom overhaul mod.
You will have access to plenty of the items that many modern women have in their rooms, as well as a bunch of new décors that suits modernity as much as it feels cozy.
New lamps, chairs, and a whole lot of new decorative items. All available for you to select and spice up your sleepy-time room.
7. Young Way Kitchen
Who says that you need a lot of room to create the perfect kitchen?
The creator of this mod begs to differ, as the Young Way Kitchen adds enough items for you to create one of the better-looking minimalistic kitchens that I've ever seen in The Sims 4.
Make your kitchen feel like it was taken out of a fantasy book with dozens of new items. Create one of the most beautiful designs that you didn't know you were capable of by adding in this fantastic(and free) kitchen mod.
6. Christmas Bedroom
This might be intended for you to create a room in a Christmas style, but trust me – it feels just right to have a room like this one throughout the entire year.
The mod adds items that let you create a room with a Nordic feeling, making you dream of the northern lights from the comfort of your new and cozy bed.
Or whatever Christmas-style thing comes to your mind.
With this installed you get a ton of new décors that you'll be able to place quite freely, and that suit most types of homes.

Modern bathroom mods always seem to fit quite well.
So this one is a mod that I couldn't let pass.
It lets you create quite a different type of bathroom from what you're used to seeing in the game, but let me say this: it's a much better mod if you have enough room in your home to create a large bathroom.
Some of the items that this mod comes with make it ideal for you to build unique stuff in a large space, so I'd suggest you install it if your Sim has already succeeded in life and they're looking to have an even better home!
4. Thorne Bedroom
This cozy little bedroom mod adds a few items that'll let you create a fantastic-looking room.
The items make the room look like as if it was taken straight out of those modern magazine catalogs, and I just really like the way it all comes together.
The feeling that this bedroom mod will give you is nothing like the other ones on this list, and I'm certain that you'll love it.
Small plants, text-rich décor, and many other fantastic additions will make you feel like you're living the dream of a city monger, especially if you create a room in the City Living map!
3. Melina
Your toddler should always be in touch with nature, just so they don't forget where we all come from.
Melina is an amazing mod with one of the best aesthetic feelings in the Sims 4 modding community.
It adds a whole lot of new items to the game to help you create the perfect natural room for your child.
The cushions are particularly what sold me on this mod. And if you think they look good in pictures, just wait until you see how cute they are in the game!
2. Calligraphik Bedroom
If you liked the Thorne Bedroom mod from the fourth spot on this list, wait until you check out this Caligraphik Bedroom.
I liked this room even better than Thorne, although both share a similar aesthetic.
Again this might be down to personal preference, but the darker tones here make it look far better in most types of homes in the game.
I particularly enjoy the way the desk looks, as I feel that it fitsright into most homes. Even if you're not looking to create an entire room with these items, you can get a little something out of this content pack.

Benefits of Having a Roommate in Your Residence
Rent:
Roommates pay rent. From what I can tell if your home is nice and if you make improvements/upgrades the rent will raise.
Companionship:
A good roommate can be good company… or the opposite, or somewhere in-between. Rather like in RL…
Pushback:
A roommate will change things up a bit. Add some personality to the game. You do not control them, and they can be a bit quirky, which can be entertaining and add challenge.
Pitching In:
If things go well with your roommate, you may find they pitch in more than just rent. I've had roommates who spontaneously repaired broken items, tended toddlers, socialized with pets and family members, cooked and baked, cleaned, and did many helpful things around the house.
Preparing for a Roommate
Have Enough Beds:
You will need to add a bed for each roommate. You will also need to add enough beds to account all household Sims, toddlers (toddler beds don't count), pets, and butlers, in order to run the ad for a roommate. It's not necessary to keep all of those beds once the roommate(s) have a bed assigned to them. You can even stick the extra beds in a basement storage room, the back yard, etc. while running the ad.
A Nice Room:
Remember, you want the roommates comfortable and happy. They will come with some ‘stuff' and won't be happy if they cannot lay out their items in their bedroom. I would recommend their bedroom have a bed, a bedside table, a dresser, a comfortable lounge chair, and a desk with a chair. If you add any decorative items to these surfaces, just stick to one item. They will come with and accumulate at least 1-4 items that they will want to put on the surfaces in their bedroom.
Assign Beds:
All adults, teens, children, & butlers should have a bed assigned to them. Double and triple check that all bed assignments ‘took'. You can see if they have been successfully assigned the bed if you hover over the bed. If it is assigned, each sim assigned to the bed will show in the hover pop-up. Check them again after making any new assignments or household member changes. The game can act a bit like musical chairs after a change of household members, new roommate addition, etc. You may suddenly find that some or all of the bed assignments have reset or are not assigned any longer.
Extra Unassigned Beds:
Have the extra, unassigned beds mentioned in the first point above.
Helpful Items:
Plenty of bathrooms, easy access to kitchen surfaces, and I find having a second refrigerator or a mini-fridges from Discover University extremely helpful. Having a TV and comfy seating, bookshelf, a coffee maker, a stereo or speaker, and exercise equipment is also helpful. My roommates loved the gamepad I added, and they will likely want to cook and make coffee.
There Are Two Ways to Get a Roommate:
1. Ask an Acquaintance to Be the New Roommate
To ask an acquaintance to be the new roommate, click on the other Sim & go to 'Roommate' > 'Ask to be New Roommate'…
[Note: If the acquaintance turns your Sim down it could be for a number of reasons. They may not like your Sim, they may already have a home and family that depend on them, or there may be other reasons. If you really, really want a certain Sim for the roommate you can increase your chances by going into 'Manage Households', find the Sim, move the Sim into their own household, and make sure they don't live in a home.]

2. Place an Advertisement (Ad) for a Roommate
On their computer, have your Sim go to 'Household' then 'Place Advertisement for Roommates'…
[Note: If this option is greyed out, please see 'Preparing for a Roommate' above.]
Once the ad has been placed you can wait for potential roommates to show up at the door.
• Within 1-3 days of placing your ad you should begin to have ‘potential roommates' show up at the door. You can identify them as a 'Potential Roommate' by hovering over them and you should see this popup with their name that identifies them as a 'Potential Roommate':
[Unlike asking acquaintances, the 'Potential Roommates' that come to the door are on board and would love to be your Sim's roommate if they accept them!]
• Have your Sim introduce themselves to the 'Potential Roommate'. After introducing themselves they should be able to chat with them and get to know them a bit.
• TIP: It's super handy to have a Sim with the 'Observant' reward meet the potential roommate(s). This Sim will be able to tell at introduction the traits of the potential roommate.
Click the Sim for the option to 'Accept as New Roommate'.
Keeping Your Roommate Happy
- Have your Sim socialize with their roommate. Nobody's very happy living with someone they barely know or don't like.
- Make meals, place them out, and do ‘Call to Meal'.
- Keep extra leftovers in the refrigerator at all times so they can ‘grab a plate'.
- Keep the home tidy.
- Make repairs quickly.
- Keep checking interactions with roommates. If they help, have your Sim thank and encourage them. If they flirt inappropriately, are messy, or do other unwanted behaviors, check interactions right away – your Sim will likely have the option to tell them not to do that. A good roommate will respond well to these corrections and encouragements. A bad roommate may not, and may need to go.
- If they make or bring a food, drag it to the refrigerator. They will eat leftovers from it far more readily.
- Keep spoiled food cleared out.
- Upgrade items, especially in the bathrooms. Roommates like this.
Roommate Is Bugging Out
Occasionally you may need to reset/debug your roommate. It's a thing. If the roommate is all dirty and miserable, not moving/frozen, not taking care of their needs, has something stuck in their hands, etc., you may need to resort to cheats to help them out.
- Before resorting to cheats you can try exiting the lot and re-entering it. This in-and-of itself oftentimes resets glitchy Sims.
- You can reset/debug the roommate.
- You can try the ‘make happy‘ cheat on your roommate. This can be very helpful in getting them back in their right mind – and hopefully taking care of their needs. Keep an eye on them and see if they start behaving normally and take care of themselves.

If things go well with your roommate, you may find they pitch in more than just rent. I've had roommates who spontaneously repaired broken items, tended toddlers, socialized with pets and family members, cooked and baked, cleaned, and did many helpful things around the house.
Preparing for a Roommate
Have Enough Beds:
You will need to add a bed for each roommate. You will also need to add enough beds to account all household Sims, toddlers (toddler beds don't count), pets, and butlers, in order to run the ad for a roommate. It's not necessary to keep all of those beds once the roommate(s) have a bed assigned to them. You can even stick the extra beds in a basement storage room, the back yard, etc. while running the ad.
A Nice Room:
Remember, you want the roommates comfortable and happy. They will come with some ‘stuff' and won't be happy if they cannot lay out their items in their bedroom. I would recommend their bedroom have a bed, a bedside table, a dresser, a comfortable lounge chair, and a desk with a chair. If you add any decorative items to these surfaces, just stick to one item. They will come with and accumulate at least 1-4 items that they will want to put on the surfaces in their bedroom.
Assign Beds:
All adults, teens, children, & butlers should have a bed assigned to them. Double and triple check that all bed assignments ‘took'. You can see if they have been successfully assigned the bed if you hover over the bed. If it is assigned, each sim assigned to the bed will show in the hover pop-up. Check them again after making any new assignments or household member changes. The game can act a bit like musical chairs after a change of household members, new roommate addition, etc. You may suddenly find that some or all of the bed assignments have reset or are not assigned any longer.

Have the extra, unassigned beds mentioned in the first point above.
Helpful Items:
Plenty of bathrooms, easy access to kitchen surfaces, and I find having a second refrigerator or a mini-fridges from Discover University extremely helpful. Having a TV and comfy seating, bookshelf, a coffee maker, a stereo or speaker, and exercise equipment is also helpful. My roommates loved the gamepad I added, and they will likely want to cook and make coffee.
There Are Two Ways to Get a Roommate:
1. Ask an Acquaintance to Be the New Roommate
To ask an acquaintance to be the new roommate, click on the other Sim & go to 'Roommate' > 'Ask to be New Roommate'…
[Note: If the acquaintance turns your Sim down it could be for a number of reasons. They may not like your Sim, they may already have a home and family that depend on them, or there may be other reasons. If you really, really want a certain Sim for the roommate you can increase your chances by going into 'Manage Households', find the Sim, move the Sim into their own household, and make sure they don't live in a home.]

2. Place an Advertisement (Ad) for a Roommate
On their computer, have your Sim go to 'Household' then 'Place Advertisement for Roommates'…

Once the ad has been placed you can wait for potential roommates to show up at the door.
• Within 1-3 days of placing your ad you should begin to have ‘potential roommates' show up at the door. You can identify them as a 'Potential Roommate' by hovering over them and you should see this popup with their name that identifies them as a 'Potential Roommate':
[Unlike asking acquaintances, the 'Potential Roommates' that come to the door are on board and would love to be your Sim's roommate if they accept them!]
• Have your Sim introduce themselves to the 'Potential Roommate'. After introducing themselves they should be able to chat with them and get to know them a bit.
• TIP: It's super handy to have a Sim with the 'Observant' reward meet the potential roommate(s). This Sim will be able to tell at introduction the traits of the potential roommate.
Click the Sim for the option to 'Accept as New Roommate'.
Keeping Your Roommate Happy
- Have your Sim socialize with their roommate. Nobody's very happy living with someone they barely know or don't like.
- Make meals, place them out, and do ‘Call to Meal'.
- Keep extra leftovers in the refrigerator at all times so they can ‘grab a plate'.
- Keep the home tidy.
- Make repairs quickly.
- Keep checking interactions with roommates. If they help, have your Sim thank and encourage them. If they flirt inappropriately, are messy, or do other unwanted behaviors, check interactions right away – your Sim will likely have the option to tell them not to do that. A good roommate will respond well to these corrections and encouragements. A bad roommate may not, and may need to go.
- If they make or bring a food, drag it to the refrigerator. They will eat leftovers from it far more readily.
- Keep spoiled food cleared out.
- Upgrade items, especially in the bathrooms. Roommates like this.
Roommate Is Bugging Out
Occasionally you may need to reset/debug your roommate. It's a thing. If the roommate is all dirty and miserable, not moving/frozen, not taking care of their needs, has something stuck in their hands, etc., you may need to resort to cheats to help them out.
- Before resorting to cheats you can try exiting the lot and re-entering it. This in-and-of itself oftentimes resets glitchy Sims.
- You can reset/debug the roommate.
- You can try the ‘make happy‘ cheat on your roommate. This can be very helpful in getting them back in their right mind – and hopefully taking care of their needs. Keep an eye on them and see if they start behaving normally and take care of themselves.

- Are random Sims showing up and making themselves at home? Roommates will sometimes have ‘parties' where a bunch of friends show up and mill around the home, pretty much making themselves at home. I have also seen some roommates that frequently invite a boyfriend/girlfriend over – sometimes for the night. Your Sim should be able to ask the boyfriend/girlfriend/friends to leave, though their roommate may not be too pleased.
- Sims getting fat from roommates cooking cakes? The Cool Kitchen Stuff Pack includes the ice cream maker. With it you can make 'Taste of Diet' ice cream. After a Sim eats 2-3 servings of this ice cream they will lose weight. This is very handy since some roommates love to make a lot of food and cake. If you make ice cream and put it in the refrigerator roommates and household Sims alike absolutely love helping themselves to portions of it.
- Hire a maid, a gardener, a butler. Get some help. They will offer your Sim (and you) relief, the rent should help offset the expense, and they will likely catch issues you didn't know about sometimes.
